Welcome to my Enigma
The Psychiatrist
My first appointment with the psychiatrist was different.
Again, I explained what I have been going through since January.
She decided to wean me off the Prozac, saying she thought it was
aggravating my moods not helping them.  She prescribed Depakote.
A mood stabilizer.  She described Prozac as helping bring a person UP when they
are LOW, but what happens when the person's mood is too much UP.
She said Prozac makes a persons mood too high and that the Depakote
would even out my mood swings.
This is when I heard the words for the first time.
To me they were worse then hearing I had P.M.D.D

The doctor told me I was  Bipolar.
At the time I really did not know what she was talking about.
That is when she told me Manic/Depressive.  This term I understood.
Me???  Bipolar??  How?? Why??
She prescribed 1000 mg of Depakote before bed and
scheduled another appointment in a month.
2 weeks later my phone call to the doctor about my total lack of sleep.
She instructed me to go down to 1 Depakote pill a day and she will
see how it goes by our next visit.
